Photography Contest
Photos will be on display at the Cobbler Cafe in the Metchosin Community House (4430 Happy Valley Road) from 11-16:30 on Metchosin Day September 7, 2025

Judges: Tony Austin and Christy Grinton ( these judges are award winning photographers and we look forward to having some of their photographs on display on Metchosin Day)
Age Categories:
Youth – All school age youth from Westshore communities in two age groups: 11 and under, 12 – 18
Adults – Only residents of Metchosin — 18 and older
Photo Categories:
Adults can enter up to four photographs, one per category in these categories:
A ‘Metchosin’ scene, People, Wildlife, Travel, Black&White
School aged youth (11 and under) (12 to 18) can enter one photograph of their choosing and there are no defined categories.
Awards:
Rosette and Gift Basket for *Best in Show (chosen from all photographs, no matter the age)
Rosette for *Best in School Category (11 and under and 12-18 ), MyChosen Cafe Gift Certificate
People’s Choice will receive a Garden Bouquet.
Award Certificate to School with the most entries by students ????
Ribbons: 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age group for youth 11 and under and 12 – 18.
Ribbons: 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each adult category.
*Best of Show and Best in School Aged photos will be published in the October 2025 MUSE paper.
ENTRY RULES!
- Eligibility: Photos by Adults must be Metchosin Residents, Photos by Youth (11 and under) and Youth (12 – 18). School aged students in Westshore can be from any school or homeschool in WestShore Communities
- Submission: Adults can enter no more than 4 photos. 1 per / category.
- Youth (11 and under) and Youth (12-18) can submit 1 photograph.
- Entering Photos: Leave your photos at the Metchosin District Municipal Office – Tuesday to Friday (Sept 2 – 4) 8 am to 4 pm and between 8 am and 12 noon on Friday, September 5th, 2024. Entries must be submitted by noon, Friday, September 5th. Late entries will not be accepted. Set-up and hanging of photos will be done on Friday, September 5th at the Community House.
- Presentation: Photos must be a minimum size (8” x 11”). They can be framed using wood, plastic or metal, with or without a protective glass or plastic covering. If your photograph is not framed it must be attached to a bristol board or cardboard backing that has a 1 inch boarder around the photograph. Each photo/frame must be fitted on the back with appropriate parts for hanging on a wall or we will attach something that sticks on the back to hang it for display purposes
- Identification: Please print this label (or collect one at the District office when you drop off your photo) and attach it filled in to the back of your photo entry. This includes your Name, Age Group (11and under), (12 to 18) (18 +), Title or descriptor of Photo, Phone Number or Email Address.
- Judging: Photos will be judged on Saturday morning, September 6th, 2025.
Please note:
Photos to be picked up from the Community House on Metchosin Day from 4:30-5:00 pm or the following week from the Community House office during office hours Tuesday-Friday 10:00-2:00.
